Our Beliefs

Behind the Name: Of Iron & Willow

People often ask us where our name comes from. To us, it represents the two essential qualities needed to navigate life’s biggest transitions: unshakeable strength and adaptive resilience.

Iron is our foundation. It stands for your core values, your boundaries, and the inner strength you tap into when things get tough. It’s the solid, unyielding part of you that knows exactly who you are and what you stand for. In our coaching work, we help you forge that inner iron so you can face challenges with absolute clarity and confidence.

But strength alone can crack under too much pressure. That is why we need the Willow.

The willow tree is famous for its ability to bend, flex, and adapt. It doesn’t fight the storm; it moves with it, adjusting its branches without losing its roots. This is psychological flexibility, the art of staying gentle with yourself, pivoting when life shifts, and finding creative ways forward.

True growth happens at the intersection of both. We are here to help you build a life that is as strong as iron and as resilient as the willow.

Arami ‘Nika’ Anwell, Ph.D., NCC

My Approach: Person-centered, structured, creative, educational, and data-informed, with heart at the center. I offer deep, steady support while honoring exactly where you are right now.

I didn’t start out with a strong foundation in money or life, but I built one, step by step.

As a first-generation college graduate who watched my parents go through bankruptcy twice and navigated my own 150k+ in student loan debt, I understand the importance of financial literacy and healthy money habits. Beyond money, I grew up in a home where the habits, behaviors, and mindsets modeled for me weren’t always healthy. I saw how those patterns affected every part of their lives. I wanted something different for myself.

Many of us didn’t grow up with healthy models of how to interact with the world or our money. We often lack clarity and hold ourselves to standards that we were never taught the information or skill sets to achieve.

We need to understand how our mindsets, habits, environments, skill gaps, and systems impact our ability to reach our goals. I spent years doing just that. I studied psychology, mental health, habits, and evaluation to understand myself and learn how to improve my life and the lives of others. In 2017, I found You Need a Budget (YNAB) and the financial independence (FIRE) movement, which changed my financial future forever.

With over a decade of experience, I don’t focus on unsustainable overnight overhauls. I am interested in the 1% shifts that compound to long-lasting change over time. From mastering your money to aligning your daily habits, I help you understand your vision, values, strengths, and obstacles. We collaboratively use that information to create a sustainable plan for change. I support you in implementing that plan with deep understanding, a growth mindset, and accountability.

  • Learning or using projection labs
  • Growing financial literacy

Roberto Borja

My Approach: Structured, data-driven

I know what it’s like to figure out money management on your own.

Growing up in a family where manual labor was the norm, I saw how hard people worked and how much it cost them physically over time. Money conversations weren’t something I grew up with, so I had to build my financial knowledge from the ground up.

Discovering the financial independence movement more than nine years ago gave me a new lens for understanding money. One rooted in choice, long-term thinking, and aligning resources with what matters most.

Now, I bring that perspective into my coaching. I’m passionate about helping others feel more confident and capable with their money. I aim to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can learn, explore, and make decisions that fit your real life.

I also love using tools like ProjectionLab to help you visualize different paths forward, making the future feel more tangible and within reach.

Outside of Coaching: You can find me hiking, learning a new language, working out, playing pickleball, reading, or playing a modern board game.
